JOURNAL FROM PERU
APRIL 15 - APRIL 29, 2008

from your roving reporter - Trujillo

Apr 25, 2008

Greetings Cafe Beloved,

I humbly apologize. I still haven't gotten the web pages done for the trip so you could see the photos. I thought I'd have some quiet time to work on it, but it has not happened! If I've had quiet time, I've fallen asleep or worked on the next sermon. LOL!

It's awesome to have Janet Klark along because she has completely taken over the camera duties, she's always here to assist me and her Spanish is good enough to get us through most situations. She has been a wonderful help to me!

The Lord is playing a new game with me since India. As I go into a situation or as I'm getting ready to prepare to preach, He gives me a new Bible verse. It's been fun.

DAY NINE - Wednesday, April 23
We went to the garbage dump today - complete with a herd of pigs, dogs and kids everywhere, burning tires, burros pulling carts, garbage trucks and the dust blowing everywhere. As you might imagine, the smell is distinctive. The folks don't live at the dump but they work there every day from 6am to 6pm digging through the dump looking for something to sell.

Anyway, we started a church today and I blessed a brand new generator for running the equipment! Now Mario is totally unplugged! Here he comes Trujillo!

So, we had a worship service at the garbage dump. The scripture that the Lord gave me was blessed are the poor in spirit for they shall inherit the kingdom of heaven. So, I preached some on the kingdom of God and his love and we had a healing line. There were probably about 50 folks who were listening. We probably prayed for about 12 to 15 folks with about 8 people being pretty serious things. They all reported that their pain had lessened or was totally gone. As you can imagine, between the bad air, the dangerous work environment, the hard work and filth, their health would be a battle. We had some salvations as well. We had the back of the car loaded with 400 bananas and we handed out most of them at the dump.

My first garbage dump ministry! I confess that I took a look at the people and the filth and I had a moment of self preservation, but then I wondered how long it had been since someone like me hugged them and showed them the love of God. The Lord's compassion overcame my moment of 'cootie fear'! LOL! Pretty awesome stuff to watch God move there!

DAY TEN - Thursday, April 24
We went to the last two pre-schools in the morning, watching the children sing and perform for us. We prayed for them and gave out candies. Then the four of us ran errands stopping at different stores, seeing people on the street, handing out gifts here and there. Mario would introduce me to someone, I'd shake hands and I'd end up praying for someone. I must have prayed for 100 people!

We had lunch and I had a nap! Then I prepared for teaching at the Bible school. The verse the Lord gave me was on honor - those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

It was probably the best overall night that we've had since we've been here. The worship was the best since we've arrived, after I taught and ministered some, there were folks who asked for healing and so the Lord healed them, then there were questions, so we talked. Then there was another line for musical impartation and gift. Somewhere in all of this, one lady got hit with an extravagant blast of JOY which was one of the funniest new wine manifestations that I have ever seen. It was an awesome night.

ENGLISH TEACHER
In one of our discussions yesterday with Mario and Sara, it came out how wonderful it would be to have an English Teacher here. Someone to teach the children (ages 3 to 5) in the mornings from March 1 to Dec. 15. There are at least 20 kids in each class with two teachers. And there would be interest if someone could teach beginning English to the adults as well. There's an inexpensive motel right across the street from Mario and Sara's house where thhe children (ages 3 to 5) in the mornings from March 1 to Dec. 15. There are at least 20 kids in each class with two teachers. And there would be interest if someone could teach beginning English to the adults as well. There's an inexpensive motel right across the street from Mario and Sara's house where the young men, Luke and David from Washington State are staying. It seems like such an easy strategy from the Lord.

I know that there have been several prophetic words given to women about small children all around them. This ministry might be an avenue for this to happen. We could start small and do short term work and see how it works for folks.

Janet and I have talked about starting a small group for beginning Spanish classes to start to prepare groups to come down here. Perhaps this is another aspect of the Institute!

Well, preparation time for tonight and my last word in Trujillo for this visit!

Saturday morning we travel to Lima in the morning. This arrangement is really good because I have so fallen in love with the folks here it will give me a Holy Ghost minute to separate a little before coming home. I have two services on Sunday at Marco Llinella's church.

Love and blessings to you all,
Your roving reporter!

Greetings all,
We're off to Lima this morning and we said goodbye to all of our new friends last night.

DAY ELEVEN - Friday, April 25
I slept well Thursday night and on waking up the Lord whispered to me, 'though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil' and I knew that it was my direction for the night meeting at the Bible School. I spent the morning working on my message, not only about the 23rd Psalm, but on the mind, will and emotions and stepping through those narrow places into what God has for you. While I worked all morning on it, Janet walked the downtown and had a wonderful time exploring.

Then we went to lunch at Mario & Sara's and spent some of the afternoon chatting with Luke, who is one of the young men from Washington State.

Folks started showing up (on time!) from all over the area and all the benches on the roof top meeting room were filled!

Bible SchoolWe had a marvelous testimony time hearing of all the things that God had done in people's lives! We had so much fun praising the Lord! They gave us gifts and honored Janet and I for our time with them and Mario said that as guest ministries, we had stayed much longer with them than anyone had before.

The ministry time after I preached was the most powerful time since we've been here. The manifestations of the power of the Spirit were wonderful and I think brand new for some folks. There were lots of hugs and tears and more hugs and more tears, and more hugs and more tears as they said goodbye to us and thanked us for coming. They want us to return quickly!

It wasn't until much later that Janet realized that the gifts that they had given us had written on them, "Psalm 23"! At one point while I was preaching, I started to doubt that I had the correct message for the night, but when she discovered it I knew that God was giving me a confirmation that it was exactly right! Thank you for your faithfulness to me Lord!

I have to finish packing and get out the door to the airport! Keep us in your prayers for Lima!

Love, Dee
